Hey Monday have announced drummer Patrick McKenzie as an official band member in a recent interview as well as spoke on their upcoming album. Read an excerpt below and check it out by clicking here.
You’ve mentioned about working on the new record. What’s the update?
We have about 25-30 songs written. Some are recorded on GarageBand and some are pretty good demos. It’s not really about finding singles anymore; it’s about coming out with something different. I feel like it’s all about trying to get on the radio now, and that’s something a lot of people loose themselves with. I’ll admit, I lost myself a little with it, and now I realize it’s not going to make myself happy in the long run. We’re trying to go with a balance of what can appeal to a wide range of audience, and what we love as a band. The process is about finding ourselves, and finding our sound; what it’s going to be, and what impression are we going to leave on these new fans? We don’t want to mess that up. It’s about finding the new sound, and we don’t want to rush it. We’re young and we don’t need to rush into these sorts of things. We’re just having fun.
Awe @pat_mckenzie is now an official member of Hey Monday!! :)
